Les Schwab Beef Promotion |
 |
The California Cattlewomen , as a statewide Beef Promotion Project will be teaming up with Les Schwab Tire Centers in the month of February. I encourage all units able to participate in this Beef Promotion Project.
In 2009 we had a great response with this Project ! Lets start off in 2010 with 100 percent Participation. We have units in the Southern half of the State that don't have Les Schwab Stores. I would still encourage your unit to participate in some Beef Promotion Project. This Year our Spring Meeting will be held at Harris Ranch in Coalinga, what a Great Place to set the Stage for all our efforts! -Pamela Payen 1st Vice President CCW |

First place for the Walt Rodman Award went to Kern County CattleWomen, for the third consecutive year, for their beef promotion project "Brand and Ranch History Placemats." The placemats are printed on 11" x 17" cream-colored paper, double-sided and include twenty-one ranch histories and photos which were collected from the Kern County CattleWomen membership.
These have been used through contacts of their county membership and offered to several local restaurants. Currently, seven restaurants are supporting the Kern County CattleWomen by placing the placemats in their foodservice establishments for consumers to enjoy! Kern County was recognized for their efforts with a $400 award, sponsored by the California Beef Council.
Runner-up in this year's contest went to Fresno-Kings County CattleWomen for their project "Beef Done Grizzlies Style." For this beef promotion project their CCW unit participated in Ag Night at the Fresno Grizzlies baseball game, which is the Triple A affiliate team for the San Francisco Giants.
Their unit teamed up with a local 4-H club to sell tickets for the game and had a booth at the game to distribute beef recipe brochures and educate consumers about beef. Fresno-Kings CCW received $200 for their beef promotion project, sponsored by the California Beef Council. |
