The Beef Ambassador Contest was
held at Chico State
on May 8, 2004. It was sponsored by the California CattleWomen, the
California Beef Council, and the Northern California Farm Credit.

Place:
Dallice Wood,
19, Vina
Tehama County CattleWomen – Coordinator Shelley Macdonald
Dallice was born and
raised in a ranching family. She is attending Chico State, majoring in
Ag Communications. Dallice plans a career in the Beef Industry, whether
it is raising, selling, or promoting beef. (Dallice placed 3rd
in the 2002 CA Beef Ambassador contest, representing Tehama CW and was
the 2002-2003 Top Incentive Winner.)

San Luis Obispo
County CattleWomen – Coordinator Lindsey Gibson
Ann was raised in a ranching family and has been active in 4-H
since 5th grade and in FFA since the start of High
School . She received her state FFA degree and was the sectional
Star State Farmer. She is currently a freshman at Cal Poly ; is
active in the Collegiate Cattlemen’s Assoc. and recently
attended the National CCA/CCW Convention. Ann is majoring in Ag
Business and wants to pursue a career in policy as an Ag
Lawyer. She plans to go to law school at UC Davis, with an
emphasis in water rights.

3rd Place:
Heather Clement,
18, Chico
Butte County CattleWomen
– Coordinator “Sam” Starr and Audrey Denney
Heather graduated from Paso Robles High School in 2003 where she
was very active in Livestock Production, Public Speaking, and
Judging events through the FFA at the State & National Levels.
She is now a freshman at Chico State University. Heather plans
to major in Ag Education and Animal Science and pursue a career
in Beef Production and High School Teaching.

Heather was on the 1st Place FFA National Livestock
Judging Team and went to the International Competition in
Scotland.)

Glenn-Colusa County CattleWomen
– Coordinator Rhiannon Car
Kelsianne
is a Junior at Maxwell High School. She is involved in FFA, HS
Rodeo, and FBLA. She is also a Colusa County Jr. Fair Board
Member, and volunteers for the American Legion by playing “taps”
and singing the National Anthem. Kelsianne plans to attend Cal
Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in Animal Science and minoring in
Equine Science.

Placer-Nevada County CattleWomen
– Coordinator Marilou
Edwards
Jessica is a
Junior at Lincoln High School. She is active in FFA; as a
freshman was Star Greenhand, as a sophomore she was Star Chapter
Farmer and served as the Chapter Reporter. This year she is
Chapter Vice-President, and is running for Chapter President her
senior year. Jessica plans to go to a Junior College and
transfer to Chico or Davis and major in an Agricultural Field.
She plans to become either a large Animal vet or a teacher.

Shasta County CattleWomen
- Coordinator Jaclynn Scrivner and Geneva
Drinkwater
Steven is a Junior at Foothill High
School, involved in student government and the track and
cross-country teams. He is an active 4_H member and has held many
offices at the club level, including two terms as President, and a
term as Shasta County All-Star. He enjoys public speaking to
groups and opportunities to spread knowledge about the beef
industry. Steven plans to pursue a degree in Ag Engineering or
Animal Science, with a goal of pursuing career possibilities in
agriculture.

Lindsay Haupt,
17, Etna
Siskiyou County CattleWomen –
Coordinator Gail Jenner
Lindsay is a senior at Etna High School
and has been an active member of the FFA for four years. She
has raised a hog for three years and has won Grand Champion.
She is currently the Vice-President of her FFA Chapter,
vice-president of the Senior Class and Secretary of Student
Council. She plays volleyball and softball as well. Lindsay
plans to attend Sacramento State on a volleyball scholarship
next fall.

The purpose of the National Beef Ambassador Program is to train
youth spokespersons ages
16-19 for promotion of beef and the
beef industry. Through preparation for the competition,
contestants gain knowledge about the beef industry and the
importance of beef as an agricultural product, focusing on the
positive impact of the beef cattle industry on our economy, our
environment, and on our families as producers and consumers. |
